dog art amidst graffitis (new york city photo walk)
some photos from a recent walk through East Village, in New York City...
title: dog art amidst graffitis

i spotted this dog art, which to many would have been drowned out by the graffitis.
i really loved the layers of paint in this shot. from the road's lane lines and green bike lane, to the mysterious red splashes below the windows, from the freshly painted wall (presumably to cover up the graffitis), to the multiple passes of fresh graffitis.
i wanted this shot to feel more alive, so i waited for something interesting. before long, a delivery driver passed, wearing a suspiciously thick jacket for a 71 degree day.
title: 2nd Ave storefronts

this snapshot captures a dense pocket of commercial activity: a Polish diner, a foot spa, a tattoo parlor, an ale house, an italian restaurant, and a burger chain. in New York City, this is but one of countless pockets of interesting storefronts
separately, i'm fascinated by the sheer volume of stickers on the streets in East Village. for each one, i wonder... who put you there? how long have you survived? what do you represent?
